Welcome to The Legends. Our group comprises of 90 of the finest senior amateur golfers in the Algarve representing 20 different clubs. The society meets on the last friday of each month to compete in a singles medal on many of the best courses across the Algarve. The society is open to Amateur golfers with a single figure handicap at the time of entry for each competition. Annual membership fee is €10 which will raise to €20 in 2021 to cover the increased prize fund for our top 5 players at the end of the year Order of Merit & PLAYER OF THE YEAR ;

Competition fees are €10 and €5 for two's. Each month there will be substantial cash prizes for Best Gross and Best Nett scores and each months results will go towards our Order of Merit championship to be decided in December during our end of year Tour Championship. There are SIX MAJOR TROPHIES to be played for by selected dates and on different courses kindly sponsored by individual members. These MAJORS marked * on our Events page will carry extra Order of Merit points
Former professional golfers
One player within the Legends, or who wants to join The Legends, and has been in the professional ranks any time during the previous 3 years is welcome to remain within the group but will not be entitled to compete for Major & cash prizes nor any annual GOY or Legends League competitions. The committee may decide on any particular tournament to introduce a 'semi-professional prize' playing of the white tees if there are enough entrants in that category. This will be at the discretion of the committee.
The first 3 of these majors will carry extra Order of Merit points for the top 5 nett scores.
THE FINAL THREE MAJORS (PORKEY CUP, THE MASTERS, THE TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP) WILL CARRY DOUBLE ORDER OF MERIT POINTS SO ANYBODY HAS A CHANCE TO RACE UP THE TABLE AND STEAL THE CASH AT THE END OF THE YEAR !!!
The Order of Merit champion will be the player who accumulates the most points taken from 6 of his best results throughout the year. Points (10-1) will be allocated to the top ten nett scores each month.
For 2020 we have introduced "The Legends League" which will be divided equally into two handicap categories (0-6 & 7-10) where every players nett scores will be accumilated throughout the year and €100 will be awarded to the winners in each category
We also have "Molly the Mop" for our Keenest golfer each month and this is one prize nobody wants to win !
In 2020 we have introduced the Legends Charity box where any player who fails to return a card (NR) will be expected to donate €5 to the "Larry the Leprachaun" charity box. In addition any player who fails to be present for prize presentations will also forfeit his cash prize to 'Larry' ! A charitable donation will be made at the end of each year with the proceeds.
